AWARDS
PROCESS
The
challenge for our martial artists being recognized this year began
in January 2009. After a year of training hard, advancing through
the ranks or being promoted to the next class we have announced this
year’s nominees. All students are considered in an initial vetting
process before the final nominees are selected by our selection committee.
Together we evaluate all nominations based on criteria specific to
each award category, with particular emphasis being placed on the
nominee’s ability and achievements. From among the pool of nominees,
our selection committee has determined the finalists and award recipients
who will be recognized at this year’s banquet.
RECOGNITION
AWARDS
Each member in attendance receives recognition for their efforts.
Our night is designed to highlight everyone and give each student
their “moment of fame”. All students are presented with
a certificate recognizing the hard work and dedication they put into
their training for the previous year.
In order to introduce the different classes we have at Red Griffin
Studio, each individual student from every class is featured in our
“ultimate fights” video presentation. Truly a highlight
for family and friends to see you in action... not to mention an awesome
way to have your name announced!
MOST
IMPROVED AWARDS
The
rewards of being nominated for the Golden Griffin Awards are many.
Nominees receive website recognition and a reception held in their
honour prior to the awards banquet. Each nominee will receive a commemorative
certificate which alone speaks volumes about a student’s achievements.
Red Griffin Martial Arts has always been proud to provide a platform
to recognize the individual efforts of its students and celebrate
with them, their families and friends.
As one of our premiere annual events, our Organizing Committee works
diligently to garner quality nominations from every class. This group
co-ordinates and organizes the process, but all judging is completed
by senior ranking instructors.
BESTOWED AWARDS
Each
year, we recognize at least one outstanding martial artist with a
bestowed award that honours their special achievement. The award recipient
is chosen by our selection committee.

COMMUNITY
CONTRIBUTION AWARD
The
Community Contribution award is a special service award designed to
honour those individuals whose dedication and commitment have had
a significant impact on our local community. Recipients of this award
have served as role models by giving back to the community or local
charities.
The “HODGEE”
Kevin Adams Special Recognition Award
In 2008, a close friend and well respected member of our Red Griffin
family suddenly died. Kevin Adams loved to fight and he never passed
up an opportunity to show you the business side of his boxing gloves.
His demeanour in the ring was serious and his sideline manners were
anything but.
His memory will always be preserved through the annual presentation
of an award that is presented to an individual who can reveal the
true fighter spirit. A person who demonstrates fighting knowledge,
drive and determination while maintaining the art of discipline and
respect.

will be named “Leader of the Year”.

Saturday Sports Jiu Jitsu class. This award focuses on students who
